Welcome to Currahee Retrievers

About

Currahee Retrievers, owned by Steve Smith, has a remarkable backstory. In 1970, Steve served with the renowned 1st of the 506th, 101st Airborne Division, amidst the rugged I Corp region of South Vietnam. That spring, the 101st Division's "Currahee Battalion" faced some of the most intense combat of the war. Inspired by this brave unit, Currahee Retrievers derived its name.

For the past three decades, Steve has dedicated himself to training and hunting retrievers. His primary objective is to produce exceptional gun dogs that excel in the field or as companions. At Currahee, the finished dogs exhibit unwavering steadiness to the gun, reliable delivery to hand, and are well-versed in working from blinds or boats. The training places utmost importance on control, regardless of the circumstances encountered by the hunter and dog.

Currahee Retrievers is a service-connected disabled veteran-owned small business.

    Steve's Sticks

In South Carolina, seasoned duck hunters use a special tool called a "stick" to measure water depth and identify hazards in creeks and swamps. These sticks, particularly "Steve's Sticks," are handcrafted from carefully selected wood for durability and uniqueness, making them essential for hunters, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. They offer stability, safety, and versatility in various outdoor activities. Steve also crafts unique, handcrafted canes, providing support and companionship for those needing walking assistance. Both products are designed to be lifelong companions for their owners.
